Bragg soldier dies in Iraq

An Army specialist based at Fort Bragg died Saturday in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device, the Department of Defense announced Monday.

Matthew K. Reece, 24, of Harrison, Ark., was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division. Reece joined the Army in 2005 and arrived at the 82nd Airborne the following year.

The military says Reece is survived by his wife, two children and his parents. A memorial service will be held in Iraq.
