When she leaves office in January, Rep. Ruth Samuelson will enter the world of professional philanthropy.
The Charlotte Republican – once considered a possible candidate for House speaker – decided not to seek another term in 2014. She recently announced her next role: opening a southeastern U.S. branch for Excellence in Giving LLC, a company that advises companies and individuals on charitable giving.
“One of the exciting parts of this new endeavor will be discovering new ways the private, nonprofit and government sectors can partner to maximize the public good,” she wrote in a newsletter to constituents.
“If I can help create opportunities for more effective collaboration, then these years ahead will indeed be as rewarding and enriching as the years I spent in public office.”
