North Carolina’s former chief information officer has moved to Rhode Island to lead the state budget office.
Jonathan Womer led the state’s technology infrastucture under Gov. Bev Perdue from 2012 to 2014. Prior to that, he’d served in the state budget office for the Perdue and Gov. Mike Easley administrations.
After Perdue left office, Womer landed in the finance office at the UNC system, working as associate vice president for finance and economic analysis. He was under his former boss in the state budget office, Charles Perusse, who’s now chief operating officer.
Womer left UNC at the end of December to join Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo’s administration. A news release from Raimondo noted that Womer’s wife is native of the state.
