State Rep. David Lewis, the House rules chairman, says he’ll discuss Republican-led tax changes on Twitter for four hours Thursday afternoon.
Lewis, a Dunn Republican, will take questions about the bill he co-sponsored two years ago on his Twitter account, @RepDavidRLewis, from 1 to 5 p.m.
The bill lowered corporate and personal income tax rates, while eliminating a number of tax credits and deductions. Taxpayers are seeing the impacts of the changes as the April 15 filing deadline approaches, and some who benefitted from credits and deductions have complained that their state tax return is smaller this year. Republicans say the majority of taxpayers have a smaller tax burden under the new system.
