Former Tar Heel player promotes school vouchers

Former UNC basketball standout Antawn Jamison is featured in a video promoting private school vouchers.

Parents for Educational Freedom in North Carolina has the video posted on a school choice site that encourages parents to determine whether their children qualify for vouchers, or opportunity scholarships, as supporters call them.

The video follows last week’s 4-3 state Supreme Court decision upholding the constitutionality of vouchers. The ruling means the program is likely to grow.

“All children deserve access to an education that helps them reach their full potential,” says Jamison, who graduated from Providence High School in Charlotte.

Jamison was national player of the year in 1998 while playing for the Tar Heels, and was a two-time NBA all-star.
