A few thousand state employees who belong to the State Health Plan have been told they are uninsured in recent weeks, due to a technical glitch.
The state entered into a new contract for eligibility and enrollment on June 1, and since then there have been problems transmitting employees’ data files to the State Health Plan’s other vendor partners, according to Schorr Johnson, communications manager for the state treasurer.
He said the state is working on the problem but expects disruptions to continue over the next several weeks. Employees can call the customer service line at 855-859-0966.
The State Health Plan, which includes medical and prescription coverage, has about 680,000 members. Johnson said it appears between 3,000 and 5,000 employees have been affected, mostly newly hired and newly retired since June 1, he said.
