Board of Elections Releases Voter ID video
In anticipation of the requirement that voters show photo identification when they cast ballots in North Carolina beginning next year, the state Board of Elections has produced a slick public service announcement for TV and radio.
The spot, released Thursday, presents a feel-good, get-out-and-vote kind of message. (“There are lots of acceptable ID’s, but only one you.”)
Beginning in 2016, voters will have to present the photo ID’s at the polls, but not to vote by mail-in absentee. There are exceptions for those who can’t obtain a photo ID.
Elections Director Kim Strach said no one will be turned away if they don’t have the proper identification. Details about the changes can be found at VoterID.nc.gov, the website set up to handle questions about it.
