An aide to Gov. Pat McCrory, Andy Lancaster, has left the administration to join the large lobbying and public affairs firm McGuireWoods Consulting.
Lancaster was the state political director for McCrory’s campaign in 2012, and then worked on his transition team when McCrory took office. He has been serving as a political liaison between the governor’s office and various state and elected officials.
Before joining the McCrory campaign, Lancaster was marketing coordinator with the Raleigh law firm of Kieran Shanahan, who was the governor’s first public safety secretary. Before that he was an account executive with the Curtis Media Group.
“Andy has a proven track record of delivering successful results in North Carolina. His policy and campaign skill set is a strong addition to lead grassroots and advocacy efforts in North Carolina,” Steve Horton, senior vice president and director of MWCAdvocacy, said in a written announcement. “I’m confident that his previous public sector experience will bring about equally successful outcomes for our clients.”
