Longtime N.C. Congressman David Price isn’t “feeling the Bern” of the Bernie Sanders campaign – he’s endorsing Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary.
Price’s district stretches from Alamance County to Fayetteville and includes parts of Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill. He’s the second Democrat in North Carolina’s Congressional delegate to back Clinton – Rep. G.K. Butterfield endorsed her earlier this month.
Here’s the statement Price released Tuesday:
“Hillary Clinton is the experienced, principled leader we need to continue moving our country toward a more prosperous and inclusive future. In her three decades of public service, she has maintained a steady focus on addressing the causes of inequality: expanding economic opportunity, improving education, making quality health care and housing accessible and affordable, alleviating poverty. In this campaign, she has put forward bold and convincing proposals to deal with gun violence, financial system abuses, big money in politics, mass incarceration, wage stagnation, and access to college.
“Her foreign policy experience is unmatched by any other candidate in the field. She is well-prepared to be Commander-in-Chief, but fully understands the power of diplomacy and has the record as Secretary of State to prove it – establishing the foundations of the Iran nuclear agreement and a global approach to climate change, and making women's and LGBT rights, freedom of information, and economic and political inclusion integral to American foreign policy.
“We have made great progress over the past eight years, but the work of building an America that delivers on its promise of liberty and justice for all must continue. I believe that Hillary Clinton is the best candidate to continue this critical work and to guide our nation through the many challenges ahead.”
