The father of presidential candidate Ted Cruz is replacing U.S. Sen. Thom Tillis as the top draw for a Republican Party fundraiser in Davidson County this week.

Rafael Cruz, who is an evangelical Christian minister, will headline the Davidson County Republican Party’s Lincoln/Reagan Banquet on Friday night at the Richard Childress Racing Banquet Hall in Welcome, which is south of Winston-Salem.

The banquet originally featured Tillis as keynote speaker. He had a scheduling conflict, and the event will now instead feature Cruz and Fox News commentator Pete Hegseth.

Rafael Cruz has been a frequent speaker at his son’s campaign events in recent months.
