Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz will hold a midday rally Tuesday at a church near Raleigh.
The Cruz campaign announced the event Monday afternoon on social media. It’s the Texas senator’s first major appearance in North Carolina since he spoke at the N.C. Republican Party’s convention last June – although his wife, Heidi Cruz, spoke last week at a Civitas Institute event in Cary.
Cruz will speak at noon at Calvary Baptist Church, which is located near Wake Tech Community College on Ten-Ten Road, a few miles south of Raleigh.
Doors open at 11 a.m. The event is free and open to the public, but the campaign is asking people to RSVP online here.

Cruz is the second Republican to appear in North Carolina this week. Frontrunner Donald Trump held a rally Monday in Concord and will return for a Fayetteville rally on Wednesday. So far, Marco Rubio and John Kasich have not scheduled public events in North Carolina ahead of the March 15 primary.
