One sign that the legislature is nearing another session — less than three weeks away — is the seasonal flowering of fundraisers.
Lawmakers are prohibited by law from receiving campaign contributions from lobbyists while in session. This year’s short session, meant to make budget adjustments but often straying far afield, begins April 25.
Dome recently received a list of N.C. House fundraisers on the horizon. Dome counted 13 events between Thursday and April 25, and another five events after that.
The fundraisers stretch across the state and include such highlights as monograms printed on Lilly Pulitzer shatterproof wine glasses in Goldsboro and a reception with U.S. Sen. Thom Tillis at a location to be determined.
