North Carolina Values Coalition and the Susan B. Anthony List, a national organization that opposes abortion rights, have endorsed U.S. Rep. George Holding in the 2nd Congressional District.
Holding, a Raleigh Republican, is facing incumbent U.S. Rep. Renee Ellmers of Dunn, and Greg Brannon, an obstetrician from Cary, in the GOP primary.
Ellmers angered abortion opponents last year when she withdrew her support for a bill banning late-term abortions. That has cost her the support of abortion opponents in this race.
“Congressman Holding has been a faithful advocate for the sanctity of life, as evidenced by his excellent voting record, as well as his work and relationships with other champions of life on behalf of his constituents in North Carolina. He is a man of integrity who doesn’t say one thing and do another. We are proud to endorse Congressman George Holding.” North Carolina Values Coalition Executive Director Tami Fitzgerald said in a statement.

Holding, who now represents the 13th District, is running in the 2nd because redrawn district boundaries moved the 13th to the center of the state.
Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser, called Holding “a principled, steady leader in the fight for life. We are already working in the district to turn out pro-life voters on primary election day.”
