The American Conservative Union is endorsing U.S. Rep. George Holding in the 2nd Congressional District Republican primary.

This marks another conservative interest group endorsement of Holding over U.S. Rep. Renee Ellmers, the three-term congresswomen from Dunn who now represents the 2nd District.

“George Holding understands and defends the Constitution and the Rule of Law. From his years as a U.S. Attorney to his important role now on the Ways and Means Committee, George’s gifted intellect and his commitment to conservative values makes him the best choice in NC-02,” ACU Chairman Matt Schlapp said in a statement.

Holding, who lives in Raleigh, decided to run in the 2nd District when redrawn boundaries moved the 13th District west.

Greg Brannon, two-time candidate for U.S. Senate from Cary, is also running in the district’s GOP primary.
