The two Congress members battling in the GOP 2nd District primary, U.S. Reps. Renee Ellmers and George Holding, have largely concentrated their fire on each other.
But Holding recently produced an ad on the third candidate, Greg Brannon, a Cary obstetrician.
It focuses on Brannon’s $175,000 IRS tax debt and the state court judgment that said he mislead investors in a tech start-up. He was ordered to pay $250,000 in that case.
Brannon during WRAL’s debate that he’s paying off his IRS debt and he’s continuing to appeal the court judgment.

Brannon ran for U.S. Senate twice with strong tea party support. He answers most questions by citing sections of the U.S. Constitution.
“And now he’s telling people he’s an expert on the Constitution,” says the Holding ad narrator. “Sometimes politics just gets silly.”
