Police in York County have found a child safe who was missing for almost two weeks, deputies said.

Samual Jay McConnell, 14, a York Middle School student, was last seen by his family more than a week ago, said Trent Faris, York County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson.

Samual was found late Monday after police asked the public for help locating him through social media sites Facebook and Twitter. Samual was located before 6 p.m., Faris said.

Samual left home and was supposed to stay with a friend on April 23, according to officers. Samual did not go to school the next day and was reported missing on April 25.

Samual is from the York area and attends York Middle School, Faris said.

Police described Samual’s status as a runaway who had been declared missing before he was located.
