One person was shot Monday afternoon in York County near Fort Mill, deputies said.

The shooting happened around 3:30 p.m. in the 200 block of Henry Street north of the Catawba River, according to emergency officials.

Cpl. Kim Morehouse of the York County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the shooting.

“At this time it is not a fatality,” Morehouse said.

Around 5:15 p.m., deputies released on Facebook and Twitter that police had attempted murder warrants for Wayne Lee Newhart, 35.

Police talked to Newhart on Wednesday, Morehouse said.

“He is no longer wanted in connection with the incident,” Morehouse said.

After investigating, Morehouse said police have “ruled him out as a suspect.”

No further information is available.
