State troopers will close highway ramps from Wade Avenue onto Blue Ridge Road in both directions, beginning at 4 p.m. Friday and going until 9 p.m., and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
The closures will make it easier to control traffic into and out of the State Fairgrounds for the final days, when large crowds are expected, the State Highway Patrol said.
Traffic will be able to get onto Wade Avenue from Blue Ridge, Lt. Jeff Gordon, said, but vehicles will not be able to get off Wade at Blue Ridge.
Message boards operated by the state Department of Transportation have been urging motorists to use Edwards Mill Road for fair access since the event opened.

Gordon said five portable message boards will be added to instruct drivers where to go to park for the fair.
