Power back after Cary accident

CARY - Power is back on to about 30 Progress Energy customers in Cary whose lights went out Saturday so crews could repair a damaged poll.

Scott Sutton, a Progress Energy spokesman, said the lights came back on about 2:30 this afternoon when crews were finished making repairs.

The poll was damaged this morning in a single-vehicle crash.

The accident happened just before 6 a.m. Saturday on the east bound lane of Cary Parkway.

Susan Moran, a Cary spokeswoman, said a 17-year-old man driving a 2000 BMW was allegedly coming home from an all night party when he lost control of the vehicle, which flipped several times and took out the power pole.

The man, whose name was not released, suffered only cuts and bruises. Charges are pending, Moran said.
