The ramp from Rock Quarry Road to eastbound Interstate 40 will be closed overnight Wednesday to allow crews working on the Fortify project to set up barrier walls, according to the N.C. Department of Transportation.
The ramp will be closed at midnight and will reopen by 5 a.m. to avoid interfering with Thursday morning commuters.
Drivers from Rock Quarry planning to take Interstate 40 East to Interstate 440 West will be detoured onto Sunnybrook Road before turning right on Poole Road and then left onto the I-440 West ramp.
Drivers heading toward Johnston County will be directed to stay on Rock Quarry before turning right on Jones Sausage Road to get on I-40 East.
Fortify is the state DOT’s name for a multi-year project to replace deteriorating pavement on an 11.5-mile stretch of the Beltline across the south side of Raleigh.
