A tractor-trailer jackknifed on eastbound Interstate 40 near South Saunders Street late Monday morning, the second traffic-hampering accident in that section of the interstate in about two hours on a raindy day.A multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 40 eastbound at the Saunders Street interchange closed that exit for a time Monday morning.
Police were rerouting traffic around the jam-up, but all lanes were stopped for a time while a wrecker worked to clear the scene.
Authorities said the mess actually involved two accidents, one in which a car hydroplaned on the wet pavement and the other the truck jackknifing as the driver avoided the first accident.
The first accident involved a number of vehicles and happened shortly after 9:30 a.m.
The ramp from I-40 onto South Saunders was closed in the first wreck.
There were no reports of injuries in any of the crashes.
