A 22-year-old woman has been identified as the pedestrian found dead along U.S. 70 after a hit-and-run accident that police say probably happened sometime after 3:30 a.m. Sunday.
Police said they had not been able to learn where Kayla Dion Higgins was living.
Her body was found about 8 a.m. Sunday between Yeargan and Vandora Springs roads, police had said. They later said Higgins’ purse was found near the Vandora Springs Elementary school.
The vehicle that struck Higgins, believed to be a minivan, should have damage to its front end and right side, investigators said.
Anyone with any information that could help police was asked to call them at 919.772.8810.
