Woman hit while crossing Capital Boulevard dies of injuries

A woman who was crossing Capital Boulevard on Monday night was struck by a car and died at WakeMed Hospital of her injuries, police said Tuesday.

Pamela Ann Lee, 53 of 3120 New Bern Ave. was trying to cross the northbound lanes of the road at about 8 p.m. when she was hit by a Honda sedan driven by Jacob Mason Diehl, 24, of 1809 Baker Road in Raleigh, an accident report stated.

Lee had “failed to see [her] way clear” after reaching the median on the multilane road and was hit at about 55 mph, the report said. Police said no charges were expected.

The accident happened several hundred feet north of Old Wake Forest Road, the report said.
