A truck overturned on a ramp from Interstate 40 westbound onto U.S. 1 southbound on Monday morning, sending logs across the road and closing it to traffic.
The spill also blocked Interstate 440 westbound at Exit 1A, the state Department of Transportation said.
NCDOT crews were called to push the logs off the section of highway that the agency refers to as a collector for traffic getting onto the interstate and U.S. 1.
The truck driver was believed to have been hurt, but there was no word on the seriousness of injuries.
Raleigh police and DOT Interstate Motorist Assistance Patrol drivers diverted traffic away from the closed portion of the road.
