Authorities reopened all southbound lanes of Capital Boulevard in time for the Friday morning commute as workers finished repaving an area near Brentwood Road where a water main broke Wednesday.
Police said the new asphalt had to reach a low enough temperature for vehicles to drive on it without damaging it, and conditions got to that point overnight.
Three southbound lanes had been shut down, first for Public Utilities workers to repair the pipe and then for the repaving of the area damaged by water under the blacktop and by digging to reach the pipe.
