Work crews on Raleigh’s #BeltlineJam reconstruction project are closing an access ramp from Poole Road to westbound I-440 for the weekend, for construction work that was postponed because of rain last weekend.
The ramp from Poole Road to I-440 West (the Outer Beltline) in East Raleigh was to be closed for construction Friday at 6 p.m. and reopen by 6 a.m. Monday, the state Department of Transportation said. The outer lane of westbound Poole Road also was to be closed.
The closings are needed so workers can complete pavement reconstruction at the top of the ramp. Detours will be marked, rerouting drivers to I-440 via New Bern Avenue or New Hope Road and I-495.
Most construction work is expected to finish late this year on the I-440 section at the southeast corner of the Beltline. Then the primary work shifts to the longer, more heavily traveled 8-mile section of I-40 across South Raleigh.
