Winds ahead of a cold front approaching the Triangle will help usher the remnants of Tropical Storm Ana through the state and into Virginia on Monday, forecasters said.
The forecast called for a 50 percent chance of rain, mostly in the morning, and a sunny afternoon with highs in the mid-80s.
Chatham County stood a chance of some thunderstorms, the National Weather Service said.
Southwest wind ahead of the cold front will help Ana along its northeast track, and the center of the system was forecast to pass east of the Triangle.
The same winds will help bring in warmer air, and Tuesday’s highs were forecast to be about 90.
The cooler air behind the front will knock about 10 degrees off that for Wednesday, however.
