Your Aug. 15 editorial “ Unbinding the USPS” acknowledges the value of junk mail in helping the post office’s bottom line.
I second that and cheerily note that much junk mail comes with a ready-made means to further boost USPS revenue while offering its miffed recipients the opportunity to make a statement against unwelcome solicitations: the trusty business reply envelope.
Whenever I receive one of these, I immediately cut up the original envelope and its junk contents, and stuff the whole mess into the metered reply mailer. It’s my proud way of supporting the U.S. Postal Service while simultaneously sticking it to The Man.
