The time has come to do something about making gun owners more responsible. Once upon a time, we didn’t have to have liability insurance for our cars, but damages we inflicted on other people through accident or whatever went unpaid by folks who could not afford to pay out thousands of dollars in damages. So, liability insurance became mandatory for car owners.
It is time to require the same level of financial responsibility for gun owners. One small change needs to be made. The insurance would have to be paid until either the gun was turned in or officially transferred to another person since gun owners should be held responsible for proper gun storage so that it doesn’t get into the hands of folks who might misuse it.
It’s time for some “personal responsibility” to be exhibited by gun owners and for the damages inflicted by them to be accounted for.
