I find it insulting to the poor and minorities that the NAACP leadership, liberals and Democrats think that, in the 24 months left before the next presidential election, potential voters cannot find the time and transportation to get to the DMV or other sites to get a photo ID. If it is impossible to get this ID, how are they going to get to the polls to vote? Someone is going to pick them up and take them to the polls. Can these same people not take the time to take them to get their photo IDS?
I grew up lower middle class. My mother always talked to me about “when you go to college,” not “if you go to college.” She learned how to apply for loans and scholarships for me and my two siblings. We all graduated from state-supported colleges and improved our stations in life compared with hers and my dad’s.
Education is the ticket to upward mobility. If more of today’s parents instilled in their children the value of education and a respect for authority, our hard-working teachers would be able to spend more time teaching and less time on discipline.
The poor are not destined to always be poor. Education is there for us all. Choose to take advantage of all of your opportunities.
