Every North Carolina legislator, especially those opposed to expanding Medicaid, should read the short Sept. 25 Briefly piece “ Fewer uninsured patients in hospitals.” This talks about the 30 percent drop in uninsured hospital admissions in those states that have taken advantage of the new Medicaid eligibility levels. This is primarily a drop in charity and bad debt cases. Can we afford not to also have this happen in North Carolina?
