Regarding the Oct. 1 letter “ In majority of voter ID”: The author seemed confused on his opinion regarding the new voting requirements. I will try to help.
First: The Founding Fathers, specifically James Madison but others as well, were concerned about the rights of the minority in the Republic that they were creating. Having a 70 percent majority in favor of the change in voting requirements does not make it right. We need to be alert.
Second: The voter ID requirement makes it more difficult for a minority of voters to vote. Voting is a right under the Constitution. Visiting the dentist is not.
If the author was not swayed by your Sept. 18 editorial “ Fooling voters,” I hope he is swayed by this. It is important that we keep our Republic.
