Regarding the Oct. 14 Point of View “ Opposing gay marriage in principle”: I’m in high school; I’m straight, and my mother is gay. Often, I hear people say that gay couples will destroy families, and I just want to say that my stepmother loves me just as much as my biological mother, and I love her right back.
As for the argument over majority rule, the Supreme Court’s job is to uphold the Constitution. Surely a blatant denial of basic rights for a specific group of people is unconstitutional, right?
Being gay isn’t something that can be changed or something that is appalling or disgusting. It’s 2014, and it’s time to start accepting that the world is a big, diverse place, and worldviews involving discrimination or hatred have no place in modern society.
