In the Oct. 18 news article “ 19 candidates crowd ballot for appeals seat,” the president of the N.C. Bar Association wrung her hands about 19 candidates for one appellate court seat. While conceding a tenet of a democracy, allowing the voters a variety of choices, she fretted, “we might come out with a fabulous judge.”
If there are candidates on the list who would not be “fabulous,” perhaps she should warn us and enlighten us as to the correct number of candidates she believes voters can safely handle.
