Regarding the Oct. 20 news article “ High profile aids Ellmers’ bid”: I find it very interesting to read that U.S. Rep. Renee Ellmers is a strong advocate for the constituents in her district, especially veterans. I beg to differ with that assertion.
My father is a 92-year-old World War II veteran from the 2nd Congressional District who had an application pending with the VA beginning in October 2012. In December 2013, he sent letters to Ellmers, Sen. Kay Hagan and Sen. Richard Burr asking for their assistance with getting VA to act on his application. He received correspondence from Hagan offering her office’s assistance with VA.
After not hearing anything from Ellmers or Burr, I sent letters to each of them in February 2014 also asking for their assistance with my father’s application. A few weeks after sending my letters, Burr’s office contacted me offering assistance.
Thanks to the help of Hagan’s and Burr’s offices, my father’s application was finalized (approved) by VA in April 2014.

However, he and I never received anythin from Ellmers’ office regarding our correspondence, and my father has definitely not received any assistance from her or staff regarding his VA application.
