Regarding the Nov. 9 news article “2005 UNC basketball champs: 2 semesters, 35 bogus ‘paper’ classes”: The UNC debacle continues, and it’s time for it to be over. And it’s time for those in charge to be proactive rather than reactive.
Here’s how that could happen: The basketball program, which up to now has been able to hide behind Coach Roy Williams’ obfuscations, has finally been called on the carpet for its involvement in the AFAM studies scandal.
A formula for success could therefore be: Chancellor Carol Folt’s relinquishing the school’s 2005 national title plus Roy Williams’ quitting equals a positive step toward healing.
