Regarding the Nov. 16 news article “ New details revealed in Ferguson shooting”: I’m absolutely baffled as to why this story continues to be placed well behind other stories that are arguably less important.
In a country where officers of the law swear to protect and serve, I don’t understand how new evidence and proof confirming the Ferguson police department’s maladroit handling of the entire situation is not front-page news. This is literally a situation where officers are abusing their power to get away with, at the very least, malice aforethought with feasible racial prejudice.
This is exactly what everything America supposedly stands for is meant to prevent: an unchecked authority that abuses the people it’s supposed to protect.
A transparent and speedy investigation should have been completed months ago, yet “details” are still being “revealed.” If the Ferguson PD believes Darren Wilson acted appropriately, it shouldn’t be withholding any evidence or experience any contradictions to its original stories. This should be a distressing red light to everyone.
If this is occurring in Ferguson, who’s to say it’s not everywhere? Instead, this event seems to be in the back of everyone’s minds, like it is in the paper.
