Regarding the Nov. 19 news article “ Palestinians kill 5 at synagogue”: Destruction of the homes of the perpetrators of the killings is a good start as a deterrent but may not be sufficient.
An even stronger deterrent might be for Israel to add the policy of incarcerating the families and relatives of those who commit such savagery. Those prepared to be martyrs might think twice about their behavior knowing the fate of their kin if they acted.
In addition, their families and relatives would have an incentive to curtail such behavior rather than regard the murderers as heroes.
