Jonathan Agronsky: Sony emboldening bullies

Regarding the Dec. 18 news article “ U.S. says North Korea behind hack of Sony”: I was sad and disappointed to learn that, after having its computers hacked and then being threatened with violence by North Korea, Sony Pictures and its theatrical exhibitors have canceled the distribution of “The Interview,” a black comedy about a plot to kill North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un.

Hollywood should know better than most (e.g., Sen. Joseph McCarthy and the “Black List” of suspected Communist sympathizers) that capitulating to bullies only serves to embolden them.

Jonathan Agronsky, Pinehurst
