Regarding the Feb. 15 news article “ Jobs fund low on cash”: When Gov. Pat McCrory asks legislators to approve his N.C. Competes plan that will increase incentive money for luring new business to North Carolina, he might first look at the reasons companies no longer wish to move to North Carolina.
The prospective companies read our newspapers, listen to our news broadcasts and, especially, watch the actions of our governing body. The money he wants to spend on incentives might instead be used to improve the quality of our schools, Medicaid, unemployment benefits, etc., up to the level they were prior to the governor and Art Pope gaining control of all things that made North Carolina a desirable place to live and work.
In doing so, he will create a “win, win” for all – improved quality of life and public services and a more attractive location for new business.
