Mike Krzyzewski won the first game he ever coached.

His Army team beat Lehigh 56-29 to open the 1975-76 season. He was 28 years old.

There have been many more wins, birthdays and banners since.

Krzyzewski, who took over the Duke program on March 18, 1980, will open his 35th season in Durham with 983 wins, the most ever, and is on pace to become the first coach to reach 1,000.
