Five former Duke players headline the USA Men’s Select Team, which will train with the men’s national team before the Olympics, USA Basketball announced Tuesday.
Former Blue Devils Rodney Hood, Jabari Parker, Jahlil Okafor, Justise Winslow and Brandon Ingram are on the 25-man roster. No other college has more than three representatives.
North Carolina’s Brice Johnson is also on the roster. Ingram and Johnson, along with Virginia’s Malcolm Brogdon, Providence’s Kris Dunn and Michigan State’s Denzel Valentine, are the only players without NBA experience on the roster.
The select team will be coached by San Antonio’s Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich. Popovich will succeed Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski as the national team coach after the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in August.
