N.C. State fans know all about Dennis Smith Jr.’s dunking ability.

Now he’s the favorite to win the NBA Slam Dunk contest during All-Star Saturday Night on Saturday at Staples Center in Los Angeles (8 p.m., TNT).

Online gambling site Bovada has listed Smith, a Dallas Mavericks’ rookie point guard, as a 7-4 favorite to win the contest. Utah rookie Donovan Mitchell is second at 11-5 odds.

The 6-3, 195-pound Smith, who played for the Wolfpack last season as a freshman, first came to attention for his dunking ability at Trinity Christian Academy in Fayetteville.

He had many highlight-reel dunks at N.C. State.

Smith is averaging 14.8 points and 4.9 assists per game with the Mavericks.
