While N.C. State is putting the finishing touches on the Close-King indoor practice facility near Carter-Finley Stadium, it’s also been busy with some interior decorating at the Murphy Center.
A mannequin in a red N.C. State uniform and Russell Wilson’s No. 16 jersey has been added to the lobby of the Murphy Center.
Wilson, the quarterback of the Seattle Seahawks, had his number honored in the spring of 2014. Unlike retired numbers, Wilson’s number and that of defensive end Mario Williams (No. 9) will still be used and will include a “legends patch.” Those numbers are not assigned this season.
The new Wilson jersey is near the retired jerseys in the lobby of the Murphy Center and underneath the newly added plaque with the quote from coach Dave Doeren after N.C. State’s 35-7 win over North Carolina in November about N.C. State being a blue-collar school.
