UNC basketball adds Georgia Tech transfer, a 6-7 forward, to 2024-25 roster
North Carolina basketball added another player to its frontcourt on Wednesday. Georgia Tech forward Tyzhaun Claude announced his commitment to the Tar Heels and will return to his home state.
Claude, from Goldsboro, is a fifth-year player who was granted a waiver to play the upcoming season. He is listed at 6-foot-7 and 226 pounds. The forward attended Morehead State for three years but missed most of the latter two years due to injury. Claude played one season at Western Carolina, where he averaged 15.4 points and 8.6 rebounds.
Most recently, he spent a season in the ACC with the Yellow Jackets. There, Claude averaged 4.8 points and 5.2 rebounds in 32 appearances.
Claude ranked No. 10 in the nation for offensive rebounding percentage (15.7%), according to KenPom.com. That rose slightly to 16% when evaluating conference-only statistics, which was good enough to lead the league.
Georgia Tech upset UNC in Atlanta, 74-73, on Jan. 30. Claude finished with nine points, eight rebounds and three blocks.
Claude joins Vanderbilt transfer Ven-Allen Lubin and Belmont transfer Cade Tyson as newcomers to the Tar Heels frontcourt. Jalen Washington and Jae’Lyn Withers also return for Carolina and are expected to be major contributors on the interior.
