Sylvia Hatchell will be the headline speaker at Roy Williams' 10th annual Fast Break Against Cancer, North Carolina announced this week. Hatchell, UNC's women's basketball coach, missed last season while receiving treatment for leukemia.
She has recovered and is returning this season. The Fast Break Against Cancer, which includes a breakfast, live auction and remarks from Williams and former UNC play-by-play man Woody Durham, is set for Oct. 3 at the Smith Center. Individual tickets are $100, and a table for eight is $1,500.
Proceeds from the event, which is sponsored by UNC's Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, support cancer research and treatment. The Fast Break Against Cancer has raised more than $1.6 million.
Hatchell was diagnosed with leukemia nearly a year ago, last October. You can find registration and ticket information for the Fast Break Against Cancer right here.
