Two former North Carolina football players will join play-by-play man Jones Angell in the Tar Heels’ radio booth this season. William Henderson will provide color commentary for eight of the 12 regular-season broadcasts, and Brian Simmons will serve in that role for the remaining four games.
Henderson, a former fullback, played at UNC for three seasons before the Green Bay Packers selected him in the third round of the 1995 NFL Draft. Henderson spent 12 seasons with the Packers.
Simmons, meanwhile, was an All-American linebacker at UNC and one of the leaders of the Tar Heels’ memorable defense in 1997. He played 10 seasons in the NFL.
“I can’t wait to join the Tar Heel Sports Network broadcast and help you experience Carolina football through my eyes,” Henderson said in a statement.

Said Simmons: “I’m just as excited to join Jones and the Tar Heel Sports Network team for four games this season as I was to be a player at the University of North Carolina.”
UNC also announced that Jeff Saturday, one of the most decorated offensive lineman in school history, will continue in his role as a pregame contributor. Saturday, who spent 14 seasons in the NFL, joined the Tar Heels’ radio broadcast team last year.
