Duke wrestling tops Terps in NY

Duke wrapped up a day of wrestling Sunday with a 24-9 victory over Big Ten foe Maryland at the third annual Grapple at the Garden at Madison Square Garden. The Blue Devils finished the day 3-0 with dual wins over Northern Iowa, George Mason and the Terps.

Duke (4-1) opened the day with a 21-16 victory over Northern Iowa and followed that by rolling past George Mason 24-9.

Redshirt junior Conner Hartmann and redshirt senior Immanuel Kerr-Brown went undefeated at 197 and 157, respectively, and five other Blue Devils finished the day with 2-1 records, including Jacob Kasper who scored bonus points in wins over both George Mason and Maryland.

The victory over the Terps marked the first time since 2005.


Duke: Former Blue Devil standout Abby Johnston teamed with Laura Ryan to capture the women’s synchronized 3-meter springboard title Saturday at the USA Diving Winter National Championships. The national title was the first for the synchronized diving pair.
