NC Central Eagles Racquel Davis is MEAC Defensive Player of Week

N.C. Central senior center Racquel Davis is the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

Davis, a foot native of Brooklyn, N.Y., averaged 12.5 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 2.0 steals against Hampton and Coppin State. She registered a double-double of 24 points and 16 boards, along with two blocks and two steals, in a 59-58 win over Coppin State.

Lower level prices are $175 plus tax for section 112 and 116, $225 plus tax for section 113 and $275 plus tax for section 114. Upper level prices are $50 plus tax for sections 220, 226 and 228.

The CIAA Tournament dates are Tuesday, February 24 through Saturday, February 28, 2015. The site of the CIAA Tournament is Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, N.C.

Softball

Barton: The fastpitch team was picked to finish seventh in the 2015 Conference Carolinas Softball Preseason Coaches’ Poll.

Barton’s position in the preseason poll is the same as last year’s finish, when the Lady Bulldogs went 17-22-1 overall and 6-9-1 in conference competition.

Bowling

Fayetteville State: The women’s team finished in first place for the Southern Division in the CIAA Divisional Event II over the weekend at Bowl America Midlothian (Va.).

Senior Crystal Mujica and freshman Devondra Bazemore received CIAA Highest Average and Rookie Highest Average honors.

The Lady Broncos took place in the CIAA South with a total pin fall of 12,246. Their 12-0 record at the event tied with Bowie State as the best amongst all participating teams.

Fayetteville State swept its four division opponents – Johnson C. Smith, Livingstone, Saint Augustine’s and Shaw.

Saint Augustine’s placed second, followed by Shaw.

Raleigh Sports Club: Guest speaker Wednesday is former UNC-Asheville head basketball coach Eddie Biedenbach. a former Wolfpack player who was an assistant coach for the N.C. State 1974 NCAA champion.

The club will recognize Student Athlete of the Week Cailin Dorsey, a Ravenscroft basketball player.
