MEAC honors Eagles’ Parks

N.C. Central guard Jordan Parks is Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Basketball Player of the Week, the conference announced.

Parks, a 6-foot-7 senior from Queens, N.Y., recorded 20 points, nine rebounds and two steals in 39 minutes, while shooting perfect from the field (8-of-8) in a 72-49 win over Bethune-Cookman.

Men’s Basketball

Campbell: Curtis Phillips was selected to the Big South All-Freshman team, and Andrew Ryan was named to the All-Academic team.

Elon: Guard Elijah Bryant is CAA Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week for the sixth time this season. Bryant averaged 14.5 points and 8.0 rebounds as Elon knocked off a pair of first-place teams last week.


ECU: The midweek matchup at N.C. State scheduled for Tuesday Doak Field has been moved up to 3 p.m. because of potential inclement weather in the Raleigh area.


Elon: After a week of being idle due to weather, the team hosts two early week games beginning on Tuesday with a contest against Campbell at Hunt Softball Park at 4 p.m. Elon then welcomes N.C. State at 5 p.m. Wednesday.


Raleigh Sports Club: Randy Denton, former Duke and professional basketball player, is the guest speaker noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday. Doors open at 11 a.m. and buffet lines open at 11:30 a.m. Attendance is $15 for members; $25 for guests. The meeting will also honor a local student athlete of the week. For more information, visit
